Doris Nell Graves, 85, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully July 9th, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, strength, and cherished memories. 

Doris was known as a feisty woman with a stubborn spirit and a heart full of love for her family. She lived life on her own terms, never afraid to speak her mind, and her resilience, determination, and unwavering devotion to those she loved made her truly unforgettable. Her family will remember her for her strength, her sense of humor, and the lasting impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her. 

She is survived by her children, Robert Adams III, Melonie A. Seager and her husband, Will Seager and Lesley Rinaudo and her husband, Chris Rinaudo. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Karen Brownell and her husband, Chris Brownell, Stephanie, Roberts and her husband, JD Roberts, Christopher Truelove and his wife, Erika, Shelby Truelove, Honey Truelove, Amanda Day, Alyssa Rinaudo and Chloe Rinaudo. Doris was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous joy. 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Reece Barkley and Opal Bison Barkley, and her siblings, James Barkley, Gordon Barkley, Janice Preston, and Vivian Tracy. 

Though she will be deeply missed, Doris’s love, strength, and legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Funeral or memorial service information will be announced by the family. 

May she rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.

Funeral services for Nancy Jane (Nana) Compton (Whiteman), 82, of Bossier City, LA, will be held Friday July 17th 2026 at Heritage Missionary Baptist Church, 5580 Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City, LA. The viewing period is at 1:00 PM with funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be held in Broken Arrow, OK at Floral Haven Cemetery at a later scheduled time. Nancy died after a short illness on July 11, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Born on Sept. 15, 1943, to the late Loren and Georgia Moore, Nancy married the late Bob Compton on July 29, 1960. They had two daughters, Cheryl Ann “Sherri” and Carla Kay.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy joined her brother, Larry M. Moore and beloved grandson Bobby Wayne Nation in heaven.

Nancy relocated from Kansas and made her home in Tulsa Oklahoma. She enjoyed time with her granddaughter Melissa (Missy) Steele until she moved to Louisiana in 2004, where she then spent time with her grandsons, Michael (Mikey Doodle) Wayne Nation and the late Bobby Wayne Nation which passed away in 2015.

An important part of the South Bossier community, neighbors depended on Nancy to keep watch over the neighborhood. She was a member of Heritage Missionary Baptist Church and was grateful for the many friends there, as well as the prayers they sent up for her and her family during the difficult times. She was especially devoted to Brother Cole Melton.

In addition to Sherri, Carla and Michael Nation, Nancy is survived by Sherri’s husband, Joe Clark, Carla’s husband, Meritt Nation, granddaughter, Melissa Steele, and four great grandchildren, Jax, Jake, Paityn and Austin Steele.

The family and Nancy would like to thank Dr. Scott McRight, Jackie Jansen NP and Kristen Vincent RN, all the nurses who cared for Nancy at WK Pierremont, Bossier EMS, Willis Knighton 8th Floor ISH, Bristol Hospice with an extra special thank you to Jane and Shelby Sears.

A Bossier City man accused of raping a woman in her home in June 2020 was convicted Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Caddo District Court.

Cortez Lane, 45, was found guilty of second-degree rape after an hour’s deliberation by the eight-woman, four-man jury in District Judge Ramona Emanuel’s court. The trial began July 6, 2026.

Through the course of the trial, the jury learned that on the date of the attack, while visiting the victim, Lane undressed and forced himself onto her within minutes of being in her home. Twice the size of the woman, he held her wrist and proceeded to rape her. The victim testified, as did a Shreveport patrol officer and a police detective.  

When Lane returns to Judge Emanuel’s court August 11, 2026, for sentencing, he faces imposition of a prison term of at least five years up to 40 years at hard labor, without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

Lane was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Senae D. Hall and Fernando Grider Jr. He was defended by Royal Alexander and Dave Knadler.

The case was docket No. 403664.

• Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana for celebrating 100 years of changing lives, strengthening the community and creating opportunities through the power of work.

Kay Lorraine Alexander Brown peacefully entered her heavenly home on July 8, 2026.

She was born on August 22, 1948, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to William E. Alexander, Jr. and Joyce Lorraine Petersen Alexander. A proud 1966 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School, she also attended Louisiana Tech University. Kay retired as a commercial property manager and, throughout her career, served in a variety of roles in real estate, oil and gas, and office management.

Her faith was the guiding force of her life. In her earlier years, she faithfully served her churches as a Sunday School teacher, choir director, and youth group leader, lovingly referring to those young people as “her kids” for many years afterward. She was always willing to step forward and serve wherever she was needed. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering faith during nine years of living with an LVAD were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Kay loved to travel and was especially fond of the beach or camping anywhere near the water. She and her beloved husband of 36 years, Lt. Tom Brown, shared countless adventures together, seeking out lighthouses, waterfalls, great food, and beautiful sunsets while making treasured memories along the way. She also embraced Tom’s passion for classic cars and drag racing, and through their years with Beat The Heat, Inc., they formed many lasting friendships.

She loved music, photography, curating antique booths, spending time with family and friends, and attending the many activities and events in which her children and grandchildren participated. She especially cherished her final years at The Oaks of Louisiana retirement community, where she found a wonderful circle of friends she affectionately called her “Oaks Folks Family.”

Kay is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas A. Brown; her daughter, Tara Kay Rainey Allday; her son, Steven Blake Rainey (Carrie); her grandchildren, Peyton Elizabeth Adcock Ward (Austin), Camden Alexander Rainey, Landry Nicole Rainey, and Owen Ridgley Rainey; her great-grandson, Leroy Dalton Ward; her brother, William H. “Bill” Alexander (Beth); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the LVAD Cardiology Unit at Baylor Scott & White in Dallas, Texas, and to the exceptional LVAD team at Willis Knighton North in Shreveport, Louisiana. Without their specialized care, advanced technology, and steadfast dedication, the past nine years of Kay’s life would not have been possible. We are eternally grateful.

Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing she is healed, reunited with loved ones, and forever in the presence of her Savior.

Seal Marie Richardson, 88, was born on November 27, 1937 in Farmerville, Louisiana to Len Eubanks and Dulcie Dean Eubanks and passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She married Roger Richardson in 1965 and had four children. She was an avid reader of true crime novels. Her job was within the home and taking care of others. Although she struggled with it sometimes, she had a strong faith in the Lord. She enjoyed the outdoors and all God’s creations. To know her was to lover her, and she will be truly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Len Eubanks and Dulcie Dean Eubanks and husband, Roger Richardson. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Janice Fricks, Donald Cecil Richardson, Gary Wayne Richardson and Deborah June Richardson; grandchildren, Shaketha Fricks Fontenot and Donathan Ray Fricks, great-grandchildren, Zoe Malanders, Mitchell Fonetenot V and Rayna Bell and a host of other family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Shreveport Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 33-year-old woman early Sunday morning.

On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 6:16 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported crash in the 5800 block of Fern Avenue near Business Park Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2012 Fiat 500 overturned on its side. The Shreveport Fire Department responded to the scene, extinguished a small fire in the vehicle’s engine compartment, and extricated the driver from the vehicle.

The driver, a 33-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Due to the fatal nature of the crash, the Shreveport Police Crash Investigations Unit responded to conduct the investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Fiat was traveling southbound on Fern Avenue when, for reasons that remain under investigation, it left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and overturned.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and took custody of the deceased.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Shreveport Police have arrested two suspects following an attempted check fraud incident that led to a vehicle pursuit on July 8, 2026.

SPD patrol officers were contacted after representatives from Barksdale Federal Credit Union, located at 8810 Youree Drive, reported an attempt to negotiate a fraudulent check. The suspects, identified as Jaderria Williams and Desmond Anderson, fled from the location in a vehicle, leading officers on a pursuit that ended in the 1000 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop after the vehicle crashed.

Both Williams and Anderson were detained by patrol officers. Detectives with the Shreveport-Caddo Financial Crimes Task Force responded and continued the investigation.

Investigators learned that Williams had allegedly successfully negotiated fraudulent checks at other Barksdale Federal Credit Union branches on July 7, 2026. The account involved had been frozen after the prior fraudulent activity, which prevented the attempted transaction at the Youree Drive branch on July 8.

Williams was booked into custody on charges of aggravated flight from an officer, hit and run, forgery, and a Louisiana Probation and Parole hold.

Anderson was booked into custody on charges of resisting an officer, possession of Schedule I marijuana, and a fugitive warrant out of Bossier Parish.

This arrest is another example of SPD patrol officers and Financial Crimes detectives working together to quickly identify suspects, protect victims, and hold offenders accountable.

The Bossier City Police Department recognized Lt. Michael Booker for his commitment to public service and leadership.

Lt. Booker has served the Bossier City Police Department for 28 years, working in Patrol, Detectives, Street Crimes, Training and currently as the supervisor over Information Services.

In addition to his law enforcement career, Lt. Booker has completed 34 years of active service in the United States Army.

The department said his decades of service reflect leadership, experience and dedication to both the community and the nation. Officials also expressed appreciation for his continued commitment and the positive influence he has on those he serves and those who serve alongside him.

The department encouraged the community to thank Lt. Booker for his service and congratulate him on his career.

Sheriff Julian Whittington and the staff at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office Viking Drive Substation hosted an appreciation fish fry for members of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office Posse and their families to recognize their dedication and service to Bossier Parish.

The Posse is made up of volunteers who support the Sheriff’s Office and residents of the parish. In addition to completing specialized training, Posse members assist with traffic direction, vacation home checks, Operation Blessing and numerous community events throughout the year.

During the luncheon, Sheriff Whittington spoke about the importance of the Posse program and the role the volunteers play in supporting the mission of the Sheriff’s Office. He said Bossier Parish is fortunate to have men and women willing to give their time and talents in service to others.

Sgt. Alex Ware also addressed the group, thanking Posse members and their families for their commitment, sacrifice and continued support. He noted that volunteering requires time away from home and said their willingness to serve is appreciated by both the Sheriff’s Office and the community.

The event concluded with fellowship and recognition for the Posse volunteers. The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office thanked each member of the Posse and their families for their service, dedication and commitment to helping make the parish a better place to live.

Pamela Ann Cook Looney, 79, of Shreveport, LA, passed away on July 7, 2026. Born on September 14, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was a cherished resident of Shreveport, where she spent her final years.

Pamela leaves behind a loving family, including her life partner, Jim Gray; children Lanna Paul, Lowell Parker (Charolet), Karl LeGier (Christina), and bonus children Joshua Gray, Brittany Gray, Jordan Gray, and Gabriel Gray (Katlyn); and grandchildren Brooke Dorsey, Keelie Harrison, Alexandra Dodd, Claire Parker, and Halle LeGier. She is also survived by her brother, David Cook (Georgann), and her beloved pet, Dexter. Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Jane Cook, her grandchild Brienna LeGier, and her brother Stephen Cook.

Pamela had a passion for decorating her home for every season and holiday, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for all who visited. She was a wonderful cook, known for her ability to whip up delicious meals for her family, and she had an unmatched love for shopping, always finding the best deals in town.

Pamela’s vibrant spirit and loving nature will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Princie Alene Allen, a beacon of faith and boundless love, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in her cherished hometown of Bossier City, Louisiana. Born on June 25, 1936, Princie lived a remarkable 90 years, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she encountered.

Her life was a testament to unwavering devotion, both to her spiritual calling and to the countless individuals she embraced with her open heart. She was the perfect example of unconditional love. Princie’s passion for her church was legendary. She was a constant and vibrant presence, her spirit radiating through every service and community gathering. Her faith was just not a belief; it was a living, breathing force that guided her every action and inspired those around her.

Beyond her deep spiritual commitment, Princie possessed a truly loving spirit and a rare gift that made her a friend to all. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and genuinely cared for, and her warm smile and comforting presence will be profoundly missed.

She passed surrounded by her family, leaving behind a daughter, Sheila Bridegam; granddaughter, Crystal Bridegam; three adopted grandchildren, Luciana, Bryan, and Elsa; sister, Katie Peace; niece, Brigette Hughes (Bill Hughes); great-niece, Anna Kay Kennedy (Brendon Kennedy), and other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo B. Allen; parents, Lester and Leitha Barns; son, Jean Infinger; grandson, Pacqstan Bridegam; brothers, Kelly, Danny, and Louie Barns; sister, Ginger Fleming; and niece, Rhonda Peace.

The Shreveport Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on July 8, 2026, at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Lillian Street.

Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Alabama Avenue in reference to a major crash involving an E-bike and a van. Upon arrival, officers located a damaged E-bike and found a male and female lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Officers also located a white 2004 Chevrolet Express van at the scene that appeared to have been struck by the E-bike.

The Shreveport Fire Department responded and transported both riders to Ochsner LSU Health with life-threatening injuries. The female passenger was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The male operator of the E-bike was last listed in critical condition.

The Shreveport Police Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene and began an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the Chevrolet van was traveling eastbound on Lillian Street and had stopped at the stop sign at Lillian Street and Alabama Avenue. The driver of the van stated that he entered the intersection and was then struck on the driver’s side rear tire area by the E-bike.

Witnesses reported that the male and female were riding the E-bike southbound on Alabama Avenue and were passing through the intersection when the van pulled from the stop sign into their path, causing the collision. Witness statements were consistent with the sequence of events provided by the van’s driver.

Investigators determined that the occupants of the E-bike were not wearing helmets or safety equipment. The E-bike was also not equipped with lights or reflectors.

The driver of the van remained on scene and was transported to Ochsner LSU Health, where he voluntarily submitted to a blood draw. The sample will be sent to the Northwest Louisiana Crime Lab for testing.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office took possession of the deceased female victim. No citations were issued at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.

A man accused of gunning down a female acquaintance three years ago was convicted in Caddo District Court Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The six-man, six-woman jury in District Judge Chris Victory’s court spent less than 15 minutes deliberating before returning its guilty-as-charged verdict against Edduin Silva, 22, of Shreveport. He was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the April 26, 2023 slaying of Amaya Jacobs. Ms. Jacobs, 35, was shot multiple times in the face as she drove near Fairfax Avenue and Morningside Drive in the Caddo Heights neighborhood.

Silva fired his .22 caliber AR-style rifle 13 times, striking Ms. Jacobs with multiple rounds. Surveillance video showed Silva, who admitted to police that he shot the victim,  pacing up and down in front of his house armed with the rifle moments before the shooting. Jurors heard evidence from Shreveport Police officers, crime scene investigators and several experts before retiring to deliberate.

When Silva returns to Judge Victory’s court for sentencing July 27, 2026, he faces a mandatory life term at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

Silva was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Victoria Washington and Courtney N. Ray. He was defended by Leslie Kelly.

The case was docket No. 395241.

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington hosted a swearing-in and promotion ceremony in the newly completed Criminal Operations Training Room, recognizing employees who have taken the next step in their careers with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Whittington administered the Oath of Affirmation to Jaxon Vandiver and Hunter Craig, who have transitioned from Corrections Officers to Deputies within the Corrections Division. Both deputies have reached the age requirement for commissioned service and will begin the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Academy this Friday as they continue their journey toward becoming POST-certified law enforcement officers.

The ceremony also included several promotions:

• Sergeant Lennis Jacobs was promoted to Lieutenant and will serve in the Civil Department.

• Shawn Morris was promoted to Sergeant and will serve as a Patrol Shift Supervisor.

• Georgia Spafford was promoted from Patrol Deputy to Detective and will serve in the Criminal Investigations Division.

• Sergeant Jason Gates was promoted to Lieutenant and will serve as Assistant Warden at the Bossier Parish Maximum-Security Facility.

• Yasmine Hay was promoted to Sergeant and will serve as a Shift Supervisor at the Maximum-Security Facility.

• Michael McMillan was promoted to Sergeant and will serve as the Classification Supervisor for Corrections.

Sheriff Whittington congratulated each of the deputies and emphasized that promotions are not simply recognition of past performance, but an opportunity to lead, mentor, and positively influence others.

Sheriff Whittington said, “Each of these individuals has demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to serving others. Earning a promotion is an accomplishment, but leadership is where the real work begins. I am confident they will rise to the challenge and make a positive impact on those they serve alongside and those they supervise.”

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is advising motorists of intermittent nighttime road closures on the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway as work continues on the $361 million replacement of the Jimmie Davis Bridge.

Beginning Friday, July 10, drivers can expect intermittent closures in both directions of the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway from approximately 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the Jimmie Davis Bridge interchange.

The nighttime closures are expected to occur on various nights through Aug. 7, weather permitting, to allow crews to place girders on the east side of the new bridge structure.

DOTD said girders serve as the backbone of the bridge, transferring traffic loads from the bridge deck to the foundation.

During the closures, northbound traffic on the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway will be detoured via LA 511 to U.S. 71 (Barksdale Boulevard), then north to Walker Place before returning to the parkway.

Southbound traffic will be detoured via Walker Place to U.S. 71 (Barksdale Boulevard), then south to LA 612 (Sligo Road) before returning to the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway.

The new four-lane Jimmie Davis Bridge is being constructed adjacent to the existing two-lane bridge and is designed to double traffic capacity approaching and crossing the Red River between Bossier and Caddo parishes.

Construction on the bridge replacement project is expected to be completed in mid-to-late 2027, weather permitting.

Milton R. Brock, age 96, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on July 7, 2026.

Milton proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military career, he continued to serve his community and his faith as a founding member of Gracepointe Church of the Nazarene, where his dedication and steadfast belief touched many lives.

Milton was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Deloris Brock, whose love and companionship were the foundation of their family.

He is survived by his two sons, Stevie Brock and Rickey Brock; his daughter, Brenda Fahy; his daughter in-law, Jo Brock, his son in-law Michael Fahy, his four grandchildren, Denise Crank, Stephen Brock, Casey Sarka, and Katelyn Guy; and his three great-grandchildren, Taylor Brock, Kinleigh Crank, and Rile Crank. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Milton will be remembered for his faithful service to his country, his devotion to his church, and the love he shared with his family. His legacy of honor, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael Thomas Pyles, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026 while vacationing with his family in Colorado. Born on February 25, 1945, Michael was a beacon of warmth and laughter throughout his life, leaving a legacy of kindness and joy.

Michael was the cherished son of the late Manuel and Ruby Pyles and is predeceased by his siblings, Major Pyles, Evelyn Stewart, and Margie Fong. He was a devoted husband to Terri Upchurch Pyles, with whom he shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising their family in Shreveport, Louisiana, before retiring to the serene countryside of Grand Cane, Louisiana.

Michael was a proud father to his sons, Adam and Clay. He adored his daughter-in-law, Lyndsey, and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Max, Reese, Nathan, and Tanner, as well as his great-grandchildren, Rosie and Luke. To his numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends, Michael was a constant source of encouragement and support.

Professionally, Michael worked as an HVAC technician and project manager for over 50 years, where he was known for his expertise and dedication. His career was marked by a commitment to excellence and a genuine care for those he worked with.

An active member of the Summer Grove Methodist Church in Shreveport for 40 years, and later the Methodist Church of Grand Cane, Michael’s faith was an integral part of his life. His involvement in the church community allowed him to touch many lives with his kindness and generosity.

Michael was a man of many passions, most notably fishing and spending cherished moments with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, never missing a game, and his presence was a sourse of joy and comfort to his family. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Michael had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued, often lightening the mood with his humor.

The Pyles family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the emergency responders in Estes Park, Colorado, for their care and support during this difficult time.

In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael’s memory for a charity of your choice or to the Methodist Church of Grand Cane, Louisiana, in honor of his lifelong faith and commitment to his community. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana in Michael’s honor.

Michael Thomas Pyles will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. His legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Caddo Parish man accused of raping an intoxicated neighbor whose children he was babysitting in June 2024 pleaded guilty to third-degree rape Monday, July 6, 2026, in Caddo District Court.

Robert Patterson, 29, pleaded guilty before Caddo District Judge Chris Victory, just as his trial was set to begin. Judge Victory sentenced Patterson to 15 years in prison at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Upon release, he also must register as a sex offender for life.

On June 17, 2024, the victim went to a neighborhood party after hiring Patterson to babysit her children. The woman was brought home by friends, because she was intoxicated and thought she also might have been drugged at the party. Patterson was still present when the woman’s friends brought her into the residence, and he took advantage of her condition to rape her. DNA testing confirmed Patterson as the attacker, even though he denied touching her when he was interviewed by the police.

Assistant District Attorney Courtney N. Ray prosecuted Patterson, who was defended by Michael Enright.

The case was docket No. 405439.

A Shreveport woman is facing multiple charges, including a felony charge, following an incident that began as a disturbance call and later involved an alleged assault on a jail employee, according to the Shreveport Police Department.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 6600 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Police said officers determined no physical altercation had occurred but found Kerstin Luoma was extremely intoxicated.

According to police, Luoma was taken into custody and allegedly began physically resisting officers. She was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace and resisting an officer with force or violence.

Police said the incident continued after Luoma was transported to the Shreveport City Jail, where she allegedly committed a battery against a jail employee.

Luoma now faces an additional felony charge of battery of a correctional facility employee.

The investigation remains ongoing. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Bossier City officials are highlighting the goals behind the city’s new brand identity, explaining that the updated logo is only one part of a broader branding and communications initiative.

Last year, the Bossier City Council approved a $100,000 investment to develop a comprehensive branding and communications strategy. To date, approximately $48,000 has been spent on professional market research, stakeholder engagement, brand strategy, messaging, graphic standards, communication templates and the city’s new visual identity.

City officials said the initiative is designed to create a consistent brand and messaging platform that can support economic development, tourism, business recruitment, workforce attraction, public communications and community engagement efforts.

Officials emphasized that the project goes beyond the creation of a new logo, saying the goal is to establish a stronger identity for how Bossier City communicates with residents, businesses and visitors.

The city said the branding effort comes as the City Council and administration have also worked to reduce debt, restructure financial obligations and identify approximately $2 million in taxpayer savings.

Officials said the research, strategy and communication tools developed through the initiative are intended to provide long-term value by creating more consistent and effective marketing and communication efforts for the city in the years ahead.

A celebration of life for George Patrick “Pat” Leahy, 65, will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at The Simple Church, 130 Boardwalk Blvd., Bossier City, Louisiana. Pastor John Haigler will officiate the service.

A second celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Church, 1188 Park Ave West, Mansfield, Ohio. Ron Biddle will officiate that service.

Pat loved bright, cheerful colors, and the family asks that everyone honor his memory by celebrating his life in color. Instead of wearing black, please wear your brightest colors; he would truly love that.

Pat was born on December 31, 1960, to George Leahy and Jane Wallace Leahy in Columbus, Ohio, and passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Pat graduated from Hilliard High School, Class of 1979, and later earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. In the summer of 1984, he met the love of his life, Kimberly Reimsnyder of Shelby, Ohio, at The Ohio State University. They married on December 17, 1988. Pat and Kim had many things in common: summers spent at Lake Erie, a deep love of family, traveling across the country, joy rides in their classic 1972 Ford Mustang convertible, and a shared zest for life.

Pat’s accomplishments were many, but his greatest pride was being an active, devoted father who raised two amazing daughters. Professionally, he spent most of his career as the 26‑year owner of Lexington Beverage Center, where he became locally known as the “sign guy.” His clever, humorous quips, posted long before Twitter/X existed, were beloved by locals and passersby. Those signs were a true reflection of Pat’s personality, wit, and charm.

Pat’s personal testimony was one of strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith. He battled sobriety and lived the last 43 years of his life sober. In 2004, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and told he had only three to five years to live. Despite the challenges that followed, including diabetes and bariatric bypass surgery, Pat experienced many medical miracles. Through each trial, his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, grew deeper and more intimate. As his family matured and life evolved, Pat’s passion for serving the Lord flourished. He joined a Bible study small group at Crossroads Community Church in Mansfield, Ohio where he remained an active member for 20 years, and during that time he became the group leader.

Pat had a larger‑than‑life personality and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. He knew no stranger and befriended everyone he met, always championing the underdog in every story. His interests were wide‑ranging: a lifelong love of history, especially the Civil War and WWII, even participating in Civil War reenactments; gardening, where his green thumb could revive even the most neglected plant; and reading, military history books, and his Bible daily. He loved being outdoors, spending time on the water, and soaking up the sun. Pat enjoyed wearing his Hawaiian shirts, eating fresh seafood, taking long walks, and making friends along the way. He also found deep purpose in volunteering and ministering to veterans at Woody’s Veteran Home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Above all, he cherished spending quality time with his wife and family.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, George Leahy and Jane Wallace Leahy. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kimberly Leahy, of Bossier City, LA; daughters, Victoria Weber and husband, Jack, of New Orleans, LA, and Ashley Leahy of Phoenix, AZ; his cherished grandson, Beau Patrick Weber of New Orleans, LA; brother, Michael Leahy (Sally) of Dallas, TX; sisters, Joanne Ford England of Powell, OH and Jane Dooley (Tom) of Powell, OH, along with many dear nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Brandon was born January 20, 1986 in Shreveport, LA and passed away at his residence in Elm Grove, LA on July 5, 2026.  He loved spending time with his children, whether it was fishing, camping, or playing baseball.  Brandon loved to watch his youngest son play baseball and to help his daughter with her homework. He was super proud of the man his oldest son had grown up to be.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Kelly Salter; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Perry and paternal grandmother, Gayle Todd.

Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. swore in six new deputies for the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office on June 8.

The newly appointed deputies include Chastine Dias, Hylisha Ambler, Earnest Brown, and Hollie Goodwin, who will serve in Corrections. Chelse Scott-Wilson was sworn in as a Digital Forensic Specialist, and Marissa Washington joined the agency as a Nurse.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting new personnel. Applicants aged 21 and older can apply for various positions within the agency, including corrections deputies, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, building and groundskeepers, and part-time courthouse security personnel.
