Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith welcomed the newest members of the Shreveport Police Department’s jailer staff this week, as well as two new part-time call takers who will serve in the department’s Dispatch Center.
Jailers serve in a facility that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and play a vital role in the daily operations of the department. Their work helps ensure the safe and secure custody of individuals while supporting officers and the criminal justice process.
Call takers are often the first point of contact when someone calls for help. They gather important information and help ensure officers and other emergency personnel get where they are needed.
The department welcomed the new employees to the SPD family and thanked them for choosing to serve the citizens of Shreveport.
