Caddo Sheriff awards $1,000 scholarship to C.E. Byrd senior Camryn Stewart

Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship to Camryn Stewart during a presentation held this morning at Government Plaza.

Stewart is a graduating senior at C.E. Byrd High School, where she earned a 4.7 grade point average. She plans to use the scholarship to pursue a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

She is the daughter of Rodney Stewart and Latoria Grant of Shreveport.

Stewart was selected for the scholarship based on her academic performance, leadership skills and strong character. During her time at C.E. Byrd, she served as a varsity cheerleader in her junior and senior years and participated in several student organizations, including Mu Alpha Theta, the African Studies Club and H.O.S.A.

She also served as a summer counselor for V.O.A. and has received multiple academic honors throughout her high school career.

Sheriff’s scholarships are funded through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program, which allows sheriffs across Louisiana to provide scholarships to graduating seniors in their respective parishes.
