Bossier Parish Sheriff announces grand opening of new Criminal Operations building

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington proudly announces the grand opening of the agency’s new Criminal Operations Building, a state-of-the-art facility located on Burt Boulevard that will serve as the central hub for the department’s Criminal Division.

The new facility represents a major investment in public safety and the future of law enforcement in Bossier Parish. Designed to enhance operational efficiency and investigative capabilities, the building will house patrol deputies, detectives, criminal investigators, and the Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) team under one roof.

Recognizing the growing need for advanced forensic capabilities, Sheriff Whittington prioritized the creation of a modern crime laboratory to support crime scene processing and cellular phone forensic investigations. A contract for the project was signed in November 2023, and the process of deconstructing the original structure began shortly thereafter.

As planning progressed, department leadership identified the need to address limited evidence storage capacity. The scope of the project expanded to include a full renovation and enlargement of the building to ensure adequate, secure evidence storage and additional operational space. This multimillion-dollar facility was jointly funded by Sheriff’s Office capital funding and Louisiana Capital Outlay assistance.

“This building is more than brick and mortar, it is a commitment to the citizens of Bossier Parish,” said Sheriff Whittington. “For years, our Criminal Division has operated in facilities that no longer met the growing demands of modern law enforcement. Today, we open a building that positions us for the future and strengthens our ability to serve this community with excellence.”

The Criminal Operations Building features a modern crime lab, expanded and secure evidence storage areas, updated investigative workspaces, and improved coordination areas for deputies and investigators. By consolidating critical divisions into a single, purpose-built facility, the department will improve communication, streamline case management, and enhance overall response capabilities.

In addition to strengthening investigative operations, the new building will also serve the public directly. Community members will be able to file reports, pay fines and property taxes, and access other departmental services in a modern, professional environment designed with accessibility and efficiency in mind.

The facility reflects the department’s long-standing mantra of being Courteous, Professional, and Responsive. Its contemporary design incorporates forward-looking technology and infrastructure while maintaining the high standards expected by the citizens of Bossier Parish.

“This has been a long-standing need for our department,” Sheriff Whittington said. “I am extremely pleased with the outcome and proud of what this represents for our deputies, our staff, and most importantly, the people we serve.”
