Shreveport Police investigating fourth fatal crash of 2026

The Shreveport Police Department is investigating the fourth fatal traffic crash in the city of Shreveport in 2026.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 30, officers responded to the Interstate 20 westbound off-ramp at Linwood and Pierre Avenue in reference to a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers located a blue Chevrolet Blazer overturned in the roadway with an adult male driver trapped inside.

Preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling home from a local casino when the vehicle encountered a portion of the off-ramp that remained covered in ice. The vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and struck a large concrete bridge column.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Shreveport Fire Department.

This investigation remains ongoing.

The Shreveport Police Department continues to urge motorists to exercise extreme caution while traveling, especially during early morning hours and in areas where ice may still be present. Traffic fatalities remain a significant concern, and drivers are reminded to slow down, remain alert, and adjust driving behavior to current road conditions.
