Greenwood police make early morning drug arrest at Highway 80 truck stop

Greenwood Police Department officers arrested a driver on Jan. 31 after discovering illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle parked at a local truck stop.

According to police, officers made contact with a vehicle parked in a designated handicap parking space at the TA Truck Stop on Highway 80 at approximately 3:53 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle’s engine was running, the driver was asleep inside, and no handicap placard was displayed.

Officers checked on the driver for safety reasons and to address the improper use of the handicap parking space. During the interaction, officers observed behavior they described as suspicious, prompting further investigation.

In plain view inside the vehicle, officers observed methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, and a syringe. The driver was taken into custody, transported to the Greenwood Police Department, and later booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and evidence was secured.

The Greenwood Police Department reminded the public that all suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
