The Greater Shreveport Youth Leadership Program visited the Caddo Correctional Center on Jan. 7 as part of a citywide tour designed to introduce students to various aspects of government, public safety, and leadership within the City of Shreveport and Caddo Parish.
Approximately 41 students participated in the visit, where they heard from leadership at the Caddo Sheriff’s Detention Center and had the opportunity to ask questions about operations, public service, and careers in corrections and law enforcement. The visit offered students an inside look at the role the detention center plays within the broader public safety system.
The tour also included stops at other key locations, including the Shreveport Fire Academy and the Shreveport Mayor’s Office, providing students with a well-rounded view of municipal services and leadership roles.
The Greater Shreveport Youth Leadership Program, organized by the Greater Shreveport Chamber, is designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world experiences. The program aims to expose students to opportunities available throughout Shreveport and Caddo Parish while encouraging them to see themselves as future leaders and active contributors to their community.
