The Bossier Council on Aging has announced plans for a new building that will serve as the future Bossier City Senior Center and house the organization’s administrative offices serving seniors throughout Bossier Parish.
Officials described the announcement as the result of years of searching and advocacy to secure a facility that better meets the needs of the parish’s senior population. The new space will be shared with other city agencies and is being made possible through the support of Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler and the Bossier City Council.
While a move-in date has not yet been determined, the Council on Aging emphasized that all current services will remain unchanged during the transition.
According to the organization, the need for improved facilities has been a longstanding concern among the seniors it serves. Since 2007, older adults across Bossier Parish have expressed the need for a space that allows them to gather, stay active, learn new skills, and feel connected and valued within the community.
Leaders with the Bossier Council on Aging said the new building represents an important step toward providing seniors with facilities that support dignity, engagement, and care, while also strengthening services relied upon by families across the parish.
Additional details and updates are expected to be shared as plans move forward.
