Parish-wide burn bans are now in effect across both Caddo and Bossier parishes as officials respond to extremely dry conditions and an increased risk of wildfires.

In Caddo Parish, the burn ban became effective January 2, 2026, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office. All outdoor burning is prohibited, including the use of fireworks, due to prolonged dry weather and no significant rainfall expected in the long-range forecast. The ban will remain in effect until weather conditions improve.

In Bossier Parish, the Bossier Parish Police Jury has issued a State of Emergency burn ban for all of the parish, also effective Friday, January 2. The declaration was made at the request of parish fire chiefs in response to the heightened wildfire threat.

Officials cited data from the National Weather Service in Shreveport, noting that rainfall throughout December was well below normal. Forecasts indicate above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation are expected to continue through at least January 7.

Parish officials warned that these conditions significantly increase fire danger and emphasized that outdoor burning is prohibited until adequate rainfall reduces the risk. The Bossier Parish burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Residents in both parishes are urged to comply with the burn bans and exercise extreme caution to prevent accidental fires as dry conditions persist across the region.
