State and regional leaders gathered in downtown Shreveport as part of events surrounding a Tuesday public hearing of the Joint Legislative Committee on Transportation. The gathering took place at 610 Commerce, The Supper Club, where attendees experienced the venue’s historic atmosphere while enjoying Northwest Louisiana fare prepared by downtown restaurant Bone’s House of Smoke.
The building, originally constructed in 1887 as a cotton warehouse, has been a longstanding part of downtown Shreveport’s history. Over the years it has served as a location for Ernest’s Supper Club, the first home of CoHab, and more recently as a hub for community gatherings and special events.
Guests were treated to music by saxophonist De’Lontrell G. Thomas and heard remarks from Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Glenn Ledet, House Transportation Committee Chairman Ryan Borriaque, and Representative Steven Jackson, who hosted the event.
Organizers noted that visits like this allow legislators to see firsthand the assets, challenges, and opportunities within the downtown district. They said the visit also underscored the importance of major downtown projects, including the new state building, and the broader impact such investments have on the region.
