The Shreveport Regional Arts Council has announced the opening of a new exhibit on Friday, November 1, from 5-8pm, at the ArtSpace. The public is invited to attend; food will be provided by Ono Hawaiian Grill.
The Modern Figurative exhibition explores the evolving language of figurative work in the contemporary landscape. Portraiture, an age-old style central to storytelling throughout human history, serves as a powerful lens through which we can examine the human experience. This exhibition showcases how six modern artists interpret and redefine this classic form, infusing it with fresh perspectives and innovative techniques. By navigating the intersection of tradition and innovation, these artists capture the essence of our times, offering unique insights into identity, culture, and the human condition.
The exhibiting artists include several Louisiana artists including Laura Noland Harter (Shreveport), Gregory Ellis (Shreveport), Emre Karaoglu (New Orleans), Sean Clark (New Orleans), and David Knox (New Orleans) as well as Susie J. Lee (Seattle, WA).
