High school softball season is in its final three days of the regular season with games scheduled for this week primarily to get teams ready for the playoffs, some trying to keep their playoff positions with brackets set to be announced Thursday.
A slight shift in ratings could mean a team like Huntington, rated No. 24 in Select Division I, could just miss on making the playoffs since only the top 24 teams in select divisions make the playoffs. But neither of the teams just below them have games scheduled that would move them up enough to overtake the Lady Raiders.
Calvary is the top-rated school in Select Division III and is assured a first-round bye. The Lady Cavs have games scheduled for each of the next three days to help them stay sharp for when the playoffs begin.
