District races have all been decided with Friday and Saturday being the final playing dates for girls basketball in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association in Northwest Louisiana.
The main objective for most teams will be to finish out the regular season on a high note and carry some momentum into the playoffs. Three local teams will be out to improve on or remain in a position to host a first-round game.
Airline (21-12) is a 16 seed and will host Captain Shreve (13-15) in its final regular season game. The Lady Vikings have a slim advantage over the 17 seeded Chalmette but a win Friday would go a long way to ensure them a home game in the first round. Chalmette (16-5) is not scheduled to play but 18 seed Zachary (18-12) plays at Denham Springs (21-10) and would gain a lot of points with a win.
Booker T. Washington (21-11), seeded No. 17 in Class 4A, will play Woodlawn (14-14) with a chance to move into the No. 16 slot presently held by Breaux Bridge (17-10). The Tigers rating is at 31.72 while the Lady Lions sit at 31.45 and they will finish the season at Beau Chene (7-12) a team they narrowly defeated (47-43) on the road.
Class A Plain Dealing has a 16 rankling and a fairly comfortable advantage of No. 17 Elton, 28.22 – 26.97. The Lions (10-16) will host Glenbrook (10-9).
Area games on Friday’s slate include:
In District 1-5A, Byrd (11-15, 0-13) at Parkway (28-2, 13-0); Southwood (21-9, 9-4) at Natchitoches Central (13-14, 5-8); Haughton (16-11, 6-7) at Benton (20-10, 7-6).
