Calvary regains No. 1 slot as SBJ Top 10 reshuffles entering Week 10

The finish to the local high school football regular season has more than its share of plot twists.

This week’s Shreveport-Bossier Journal Top 10 poll rankings reflect it. Nine of the ranked teams shifted poll standings, none more than Evangel, which jumped up four spots to third place after the Eagles outscored Airline’s Vikings and earned a chance to defend their outright District 1-5A title from 2025.

Cracking the rankings for the first time this season is Huntington, which won for only the third time, but made it two straight and three of the last four with an impressive 32-6 victory at Benton.

The poll changes came on the heels of a turbulent Week 8 with much instability in the rankings. Haughton’s upset loss at Natchitoches Central dropped the Bucs from the No. 1 spot after just a week on top.

Five veteran sports media members who cover local high school football rank their top 10 teams each week. Rankings started after Week 1 and continue through the end of the regular season.
