Tommy was born on July 9, 1952, to Billie Marrow York in Monroe, Louisiana, and passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Tommy proudly served in the United States Army, carrying the discipline, work ethic, and quiet strength he learned there into every part of his life. He was a man who loved working with his hands and took great pride in operating heavy equipment, a skill that became both his livelihood and one of his greatest joys. Whether he was tending a garden, shaping wood, casting a fishing line, or heading out on a hunt, Tommy found peace in the outdoors and creativity in painting. His hobbies weren’t just pastimes; they were reflections of a life lived with intention, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
Above all else, Tommy was devoted to his family. He shared a long and loving marriage with Rose Poston, and his heart was fullest when surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren. He loved them fiercely, supported them proudly, and carried each of them with him in everything he did. Tommy’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the work he loved, and the countless memories built through a lifetime of dedication, laughter, and steady, enduring love.
Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Marrow York; his son, Travis Poston; father‑in‑law, Dee York; and his sister and brother‑in‑law, Jerry and Scott Oliphant.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Rose Poston; sons, Tom and Tarriel Poston; and stepson, James Smith, and wife, Carlon. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Hannah Poston and Kaylee Reese, and husband, Dylan; grandsons, Colton, Travis “T.J.” Poston, Trevor Poston, Jordan Tall, John‑B, and Carson Smith; along with his great‑granddaughters, Ava and Addie Reese.
Honoring Tommy as pallbearers will be Tom Poston, Tarriel Poston, Colton Poston, Rem Budd, David Lucky, and Tony Jager.
