Shreveport crews repair Arthur Avenue water line break

Water & Sewerage crews worked to repair a water line break on Arthur Avenue in Shreveport.

It was a busy Saturday, Oct. 3, for crews, with seven water line breaks requiring attention across the city.

After an extended period of dry conditions followed by recent rainfall, changing soil conditions and ground movement may have contributed to additional stress on underground water lines. The city said it could not say that was the cause of any specific break, but crews had been prepared for the possibility of increased line breaks as ground conditions changed.

At Arthur Avenue, crews had to wait for required emergency utility locates before excavation could safely begin. With the locates completed, the repair was underway.

The city thanked residents for their patience and Water & Sewerage crews for responding to breaks throughout the city.
