Blowout wins kept Calvary and Loyola in this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association top 10 polls but no other Shreveport-Bossier teams are getting any voting support.
The Cavaliers crushed Grant’s Cougars 57-13 last Friday, while the Flyers rolled 48-12 over St. Edmund’s Blue Jays.
Calvary remains No. 1 in the Class 2A poll while Loyola stayed at No. 8 in Class 3A. Two teams above the Flyers lost but didn’t fall far — previous No. 1 St. Charles (10-7 OT loss to Class 5A Holy Cross) and previous No. 3 Jena (28-12 loss to 4A No. 1 Westgate).
Only 16 of the 50 ranked teams in this week’s top 10 polls are from the 318 area code.
Eleven sports media members in the LSWA are polled weekly to compile the rankings.
