The Bossier-Shreveport region has been named one of the 2026 Great American Defense Communities in the nation, recognizing the region’s longstanding commitment to supporting Airmen, military families and veterans.

Bossier City and Shreveport officials joined community, business and military leaders at the Highland Jazz & Blues Festival in Columbia Park to celebrate the recognition.

The Great American Defense Community flag was presented during Saturday’s festival, bringing together the communities of Bossier City and Shreveport to celebrate the people and partnerships that support the region’s military community.

The recognition reflects the involvement of civic leaders, businesses, residents and military families in supporting those who serve.

Bossier City celebrated Barksdale Air Force Base and the men and women who call Northwest Louisiana home.
