Three nearby college teams are on the road Saturday, while the Grambling Tigers take a weekend off to prepare for Southwestern Athletic Conference competition.

LOUISIANA TECH:  The Bulldogs hope to revive their offense while continuing to play outstanding defense as they visit Baylor in Waco, Texas, Saturday afternoon at 3.

Tech (1-1) forced four first-half turnovers last week at LSU, but found no way to move the ball until the Tigers put together some offense after nursing a 10-7 halftime edge. The Bulldogs tacked on a late touchdown in the 45-14 loss.

Baylor lost a last minute opener to Auburn but blasted Prairie View A&M 44-3 last week. Former LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda is in his seventh season as the Bears’ coach.

NORTHWESTERN STATE:  The Demons (0-3) fly to Logan, Utah, for a Saturday 7 p.m. CDT intersectional matchup with the Weber State Wildcats (1-2), hoping to put together a more consistent offensive production and shore up a struggling defense.

Weber State opened with two FCS foes, edging Northern Colorado 30-29 and losing 47-42 to Southern Utah, before battling Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes last Saturday in a 52-21 defeat.

The Wildcats won 39-0 in Natchitoches in 2024.

CENTENARY:  The Gents will face the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a non-conference game set for 6 p.m at Ornelas Stadium.

The Gents (0-1) lost at home last Saturday 57-0 to the Millsaps College Majors in a non-conference game. The Tigers (1-1) were edged 45-44 in a shootout at  Belhaven last Saturday.

The Tigers have won both previous meetings with the Gents, recording a 47-8 win in Marshall in 2024 and posting a 50-33 victory at Atkins Field last season.

GRAMBLING:  The Tigers are open after getting blown out at TCU last week, and play in Dallas against Prairie View A&M next Saturday in the annual State Fair Classic.
