Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1 has issued a boil advisory for customers on the Village Water System in Haughton following a water main break near the intersection of Highway 614 and Stewart Road.
The break occurred when a contractor working in the area damaged a 2-inch water line. Crews completed repairs and have collected water samples for testing. The samples we have taken submitted to the Louisiana Department of Health laboratory in Shreveport.
Residents in the affected area should continue to follow boil advisory precautions until the advisory is lifted.
Residents are reminded water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before being used for:
• Drinking
• Cooking
• Making ice
• Brushing teeth
• Washing fruits and vegetables
Bottled water may also be used as an alternative.
The advisory will remain in effect until laboratory testing confirms the water is safe for consumption, and the Louisiana Department of Health authorizes the advisory’s removal.
