After smacking Class 5A Captain Shreve 55-34 Friday night, Loyola’s Flyers edged up just one spot in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A top 10 poll for Week 2 of the high school football season.
Class 2A Calvary dominated Class 5A Huntington 48-22 and did not move up in its top 10. But the only team ahead of the Cavaliers, defending Select Division III champion Dunham, looked very worthy in a 55-15 rout of Class 5A Parkway. Both those games were in the Stars & Stripes Border Classic at Independence Stadium.
Only 12 of the 50 ranked teams in this week’s top 10 polls are from the 318 area code.
Eleven sports media members in the LSWA are polled weekly to compile the rankings.
