The U.S. War Dog Memorial has delivered its first set of custom granite headstones to Caddo Parish.

The two headstones are dedicated to Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office K9 heroes Tracker/Apprehension Legend K9 Ace and Faithful Protector K9 Nero.

K9 Ace’s original memorial was destroyed by a grounds crew. The US War Dog Memorial said it promised his handler that he would have a permanent place of honor again.

K9 Nero recently passed away. His service and legacy are now commemorated on a granite headstone.

Both headstones were delivered to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy, where they will serve as permanent reminders of the K9s’ loyalty, bravery and sacrifice.

The U.S. War Dog Memorial said Caddo Parish marks the first of many communities across the nation where fallen K9s will be remembered through the organization’s national outreach.

The organization expressed gratitude to the local community, donors and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office for helping make the milestone possible.
