A Shreveport man pleaded guilty Monday, August 10, 2026, to attempted second-degree murder in connection with an attack on a female acquaintance in September 2024.

Joshua Anzalone, 43, made his plea before District Judge Donald Hathaway Jr., who sentenced him to 20 years in prison at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

On September 22, 2024, Shreveport police were called to a motel where they found a female victim on the floor of a room, unresponsive but alive, with blood around a wound on her neck. It was found that a knife, later found in a nearby room, was used to cut the woman’s neck. Anzalone later was found in a different motel room and detained. 

Assistant District Attorneys Michael Anderson and Stephen Folk-Cruthirds prosecuted Anzalone, who was defended by Harry Johnson.
