The Caddo Parish Fire Chiefs Association announced a parish-wide burn ban effective immediately, Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, due to increasingly dry conditions throughout Caddo Parish.
The lack of adequate rainfall has resulted in extremely dry vegetation and increased fire danger across the parish. With no significant rainfall anticipated in the two-week forecast, conditions are expected to remain unfavorable for outdoor burning.
All outdoor burning is prohibited throughout Caddo Parish under the burn ban. Residents are asked to refrain from burning leaves, brush, trash or debris or conducting any other type of outdoor open burning.
The restrictions are intended to protect the lives and property of Caddo Parish residents and reduce the risk of rapidly spreading grass, brush and wildland fires.
The Caddo Parish Fire Chiefs Association urged residents to take the conditions seriously and use extreme caution with any activity that could create a spark or ignition source.
The burn ban will remain in effect until weather and vegetation conditions improve sufficiently to allow outdoor burning to safely resume. The public will be notified when the burn ban is lifted.
The Caddo Parish Fire Chiefs Association thanked the public for its cooperation in helping protect communities, firefighters and property during the dry conditions.
The announcement was issued by Joey Ryan, fire chief of Caddo Fire District No. 8, on behalf of the Caddo Parish Fire Chiefs Association.
