The Shreveport Police Department announced Saturday, July 25, 2026, that two suspects wanted in connection with a deadly shooting and attempted armed robbery at the Holiday Inn Downtown have been booked into the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility.
According to police, JaQuarius Davis and Kamrin Brown were booked into the facility after being located during the ongoing investigation.
The investigation remains active, and detectives anticipate making one additional arrest.
The case began on July 20, 2026, at approximately 1:20 a.m., when officers responded to a reported shooting at the Holiday Inn Downtown, located at 102 Lake Street.
Upon arrival, officers found 32-year-old Derrick Wayne Coleman Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Coleman was pronounced deceased.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance footage, interviewed witnesses and gathered additional evidence. With assistance from law enforcement agencies in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, investigators identified Brown and Davis as two individuals allegedly involved in the crimes.
Arrest warrants were issued for both suspects on the following charges:
• One count of second-degree murder
• One count of attempted armed robbery
A third suspect remains unidentified, and the investigation is ongoing.
The Shreveport Police Department thanked those who assisted with the investigation, including the U.S. Marshals Task Force, SPD Violent Crimes Detectives, SPD Domestic Violence Detectives, SPD Crime Scene Investigators, the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office and Concordia Parish detectives.
Police said the cooperation and dedication of each agency and investigative unit were instrumental in locating the suspects and advancing the case.
Brown and Davis should be considered dangerous, and police advised the public not to approach them.
