At the request of the State of Texas, Louisiana has deployed two Type III Swift Water Rescue Teams to assist with potential flooding response.

Louisiana Task Force 3 deployed seven responders with two boats from the Shreveport Fire Department and Caddo Parish Fire Districts 4 and 5.

Louisiana Task Force 2 deployed six responders with two boats from West Feliciana Fire District No. 1 and the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal said the deployment is part of Louisiana’s Urban Search and Rescue program.

“I’m incredibly proud of the Louisiana USAR program and the progress we’ve achieved over the past 2.5 years. We’ve truly established a program where the Louisiana Fire Service takes the lead, supported by the state. This vision was clear to us from the beginning as the best path for Louisiana and our first responders. The program is a result of collaboration and input from everyone involved. Today, I’m especially proud of our team’s dedication as they head to Texas to support our neighbors,” the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal said.
