The Shreveport Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 20.

Preliminary information indicates that a white male believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s ran into traffic on Interstate 20 eastbound and was struck by an 18-wheeler. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As officers conduct their investigation, Interstate 20 eastbound is shut down at West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Motorists should expect significant delays and are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes whenever possible.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
