The Caddo Parish School District joined local officials June 15 in celebrating Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel as he was sworn in as an honorary judge in Caddo Parish.
DJ was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer in 2018 and has undergone 13 surgeries. Despite the challenges he has faced, he has become an inspiration to people across the country through his determination, positivity and commitment to achieving his goals.
One of those goals was to be sworn into 1,000 law enforcement agencies. DJ has surpassed that milestone, earning a Guinness World Record after being sworn in by more than 1,350 agencies nationwide.
The ceremony included remarks from DJ and his father, Theodis Daniel, as community leaders gathered to recognize his achievements and resilience.
Caddo Parish School Superintendent Keith Burton said it was an honor to witness the ceremony and hear from DJ and his father as the parish celebrated the teenager’s remarkable journey and accomplishments.
