Calvary started its LHSAA baseball postseason with a shutout win at home Wednesday, with six other local teams getting into action over the next two days.
The Cavaliers blanked Fisher 6-0. They’ll play at 4 today and if Fisher wins, Game 3 will follow at 6:30 to settle the best-of-3 Select Division III regional round series.
Loyola opens its homefield series today with an adjusted schedule, in case rain enters the picture on Friday. The Flyers, seeded fifth in Select Division II, host No. 12 Archbishop Shaw in a 4:30 doubleheader today. Loyola, like Calvary, earned a first-round bye with its high seeding.
Evangel, the 14th seed in Select Division I, will be in New Orleans for a three-game series beginning today against No. 3 John Curtis. Game 1 is at 5, with Friday’s Game 2 at 4. If necessary, Game 3 will follow Friday evening.
Benton will be home Friday to begin its Non-Select Division I series with St. Amant. Three more local teams travel for Friday games: Captain Shreve (at Alexandria, Select Division I), Haughton (at Sam Houston, Non-Select Division I) and Plain Dealing (at Delcambre, Non-Select Division IV).
