And then there was just one.

Calvary’s five-time defending state champions are the only local softball program still going in the LHSAA playoffs, after Benton and Evangel fell on the road to No. 3-seeded foes.

The Lady Cavs host a Select Division III quarterfinal game at 5 today against Bunkie, with the winner heading to Sulphur for next week’s LHSAA tournament.

Benton (16-15) posted a 4-run first inning at West Monroe and cracked 10 hits, but the Lady Rebels answered right away by taking a 6-4 lead after two innings and adding three more in the third.

Evangel was overwhelmed at Archbishop Chappel, which allowed only one hit and raced to a 9-0 lead through three innings. Evangel finished 14-15.
