Calvary rolls, Benton, Evangel play today in softball postseason; Cavaliers open baseball series at home

Three Shreveport-Bossier softball teams are still standing in the LHSAA postseason, with Benton and Evangel on the road today against higher-seeded foes.

Meanwhile, five-time defending state champion Calvary posted an overwhelming regional round victory Tuesday. Airline, Loyola and Plain Dealing all fell on the road, with the Lady Vikings going down to the wire in a 3-2 loss at East Ascension.

Calvary (34-1) dominated No. 16 Fisher (11-9) in a three-inning run-rule win. The top-seeded Lady Cavaliers got three home runs from Loren Sivils and a one-hitter with nine strikeouts by Kynzee Anderson, and will play a homefield Select Division III quarterfinal game Thursday at 5 against No. 8 Bunkie.

The Calvary baseball team, seeded third in Select Division III, begins a three-game series today at home against No. 14 Fisher. The teams meet today at 3:30 and Thursday in a 4 o’clock contest, with the if-necessary game slated to follow at 6:30.
