Calvary begins its path toward a sixth straight state softball championship at home today in the regional round of the LHSAA playoffs.
The Lady Cavaliers’ 3 o’clock contest pits top-seeded Calvary (33-1) against No. 16 Fisher (11-8). It is the only home game among six remaining second-round games involving local teams.
Two were eliminated on the road Monday by the top two seeds in Select Division I. Caddo Magnet (15-13) fell at No. 1 Mt. Carmel (23-5). Captain Shreve (17-16) was beaten at second-seeded Pineville (26-9).
Calvary has won seven total state titles, tied for sixth in state history. Vandebilt Catholic’s 16 is tops, followed by 13 for John Curtis, nine by St. Amant and eight for St. Thomas More and Andrew Jackson.
