Millie Grubbs Tucker was born December 27, 1940, in Clay County, Arkansas to Woodrow and Essie Grubbs. She made her way to glory and saw the face of her Savior on Friday, April 10, 2026.
Millie was the third child and first daughter of rural Arkansas sharecroppers. She would pick cotton all day, starting at the age of 6, then help her mom cook, wash clothes, and teach her siblings to read and write. She was no stranger to hard work and passed that work ethic down to her three children. Millie worked in factories, waited tables, and for the majority of her life, was a private medical sitter for the elderly, working seven days continuously for years. She loved to sew, collect photos, listen to music, and travel to Vince Gill concerts with her daughters.
Millie is survived by her three children, daughter, Becky (Mark) Garcie, son, Darrell Boatner, and daughter, Cressida (Kevin) Cryer. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Aaron Garcie, DJ Boatner, Blake Smith, Dustin Dauphine, Jonah Cryer, Brandon Jackson and Damikal Crow. She loved and was delighted in her five great-grandchildren, Lily Jayne, Daniel, Dean, Mila and Simone. She leaves behind brothers, C.W. Grubbs and Herbert Grubbs as well as her sweet sister, Martha Tillman, who the family can’t thank enough for her caring for Millie for years.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; as well as brothers, Sonny Grubbs, Harold Grubbs, and Jessie Grubbs, as well as her sister, Ruth Tucker.
In lieu of a formal service, there will be a “Celebration of Life” held for Millie at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the home of Becky and Mark Garcie at 11342 Providence Road in Shreveport. It will be a potluck friends and family gathering that Millie loved so well.
