Remembering B. L. (Buddy) Durbin

B. L. (Buddy) Durbin passed away April 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He was born October 29, 1948. He was a talented residential contractor for twenty years, building and remodeling. He was a master craftsman. He worked many years for Waterloo Plantation, whose owner told Buddy, “He made his home a showplace of South Bossier.”

Buddy graduated from Haughton High School and attended college at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches on a track scholarship where one of his records still stands.

Buddy was married to Suzan McCaa Durbin of Doyline for thirty-six glorious years. They definitely shared their life with adventures. He and Suzan are members of First Baptist Church Doyline.

Buddy had two sons, Shawn and his wife Susan Durbin of Princeton, and Chris Durbin of Doyline, along with stepson Patrick Murphy, and his wife Jennifer of Blanchard. He is also survived by grandchildren Megan and husband Tim Dupree, Ryan Durbin and Sarah Murphy. Buddy was blessed enough to have two great-granddaughters, Audrey and Emma Dupree.

Buddy preceded in death by his parents Leon and Bobbie Collinsworth Durbin and sister Peggy of Haughton, LA and stepson Curtis Murphy of Doyline, LA.

His funeral will be held in the chapel of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with visitation at 11:00 am and service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at the Doyline Cemetery in Doyline, LA.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Durbin, Chris Durbin, Patrick Murphy, Ryan Durbin, Tim Dupree, and Tony Barbee.
