The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office announced its K-9 Unit is now outfitted with newly issued uniforms designed specifically for field operations in wooded and rural environments.
Officials said the updated uniforms are intended to reduce visibility in dense terrain, allowing handlers and their K-9 partners to move more discreetly while tracking suspects, searching for missing persons and assisting deputies in high-risk situations. In the environments where K-9 teams frequently operate, reduced visibility can enhance both effectiveness and safety.
The upgrade was funded by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s K-9 Unit Support Foundation, which also provided tactical covers for handlers’ ballistic vests. The additional equipment is designed to improve both protection and functionality during field operations.
Sheriff’s officials expressed appreciation for the foundation’s continued support, noting that community partnerships play a key role in ensuring deputies and their K-9 partners have the tools needed to perform their duties safely and effectively.
The department said the enhanced uniforms and equipment will further strengthen the K-9 Unit’s ability to serve and protect residents throughout Caddo Parish.
