Remembering William Bryant Flynn

William Bryant Flynn, 71, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on February 9, 2026. Bill was born on August 9, 1954, in Denver, CO, to the late Frank Michael Flynn and the late Marge Flynn Kahle.

After graduating from Billy Mitchell High School, he began a career selling shoes at a local mall in Colorado Springs, CO, and soon became manager. In 1975, Bill was transferred to Shreveport, LA, to establish Regal Shoe Stores in South Park Mall, Shreveport’s first mall. He remained manager there for several years before leaving to join the construction field as a sheetrock finisher. Along the way, he met and formed great friendships with many people and soon began calling Shreveport home.

Bill later went to work as a manager for a loan company and, after nine years, decided it was time for a change. He became a purchasing agent for Gilbane Construction Company, where he worked on building the new 325 plant at General Motors. Once that project was completed, he worked as a temp at General Motors for several years before returning to the construction field.

In 1984, Bill met his true love, Cathy, and they were married in 1986. During their 39 years of marriage, they raised two children and cared for a multitude of animals. Bill was a fun and loyal friend, a loving husband and father, and a dedicated, hardworking employee. He loved refinishing furniture and took great pride in maintaining his yard. He will also be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Mike, Jerry, and Frank Flynn; and his brother-in-law, Dan Boddie.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cathy Boddie Flynn; his children, Shea Flynn of Kenosha, WI, and Cayla Flynn Witt and husband, Brandon, of Shreveport, LA; his brother-in-law, David Boddie of Reno, NV; his sister-in-law, Jackie Boddie of Tallahassee, FL; his nieces, Danielle Flynn and Neisha Boddie-Smith; his nephews, Shawn Flynn (Krista), Brian Flynn (Stephanie), and Chris Flynn (Ann); as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
