Oil City opens public shower and laundry services during water outage

Public shower and laundry services are now available to residents at the Oil City Community Center, located at 310 Savage Street, as the town continues to address a water service disruption.

The facility opened Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6 a.m. and will operate daily until 10 p.m., remaining open until water service is fully restored. The site is equipped with showers and washer and dryer units for public use.

Town officials said the effort required extensive coordination, including late-night planning, ongoing communication, and overnight deliveries to ensure services were in place for residents.

Volunteers are staffing the community center to assist residents. Snacks and water are being provided by Citizens Bank and North Caddo Medical Center.

Officials also acknowledged support from Tony LeBlanc; Capt. CPSO Homeland Security; Dep. Lisa Carmack, CPSO Homeland Security; Sen. Sam Jenkins; Sheriff Whitehorn; Caddo Commissioner Chris Kracman; Josh Bedgood with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development; and GOHSEP, with assistance from Garner Environmental Services and Davis Water Service.

Town leaders expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort, citing it as an example of the community working together to support residents during an emergency.
