Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office partners with community to assist senior in need

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) recently teamed up with the Shreveport Fire Department and local organizations to provide critical support to a senior citizen living in difficult conditions, Sheriff Henry Whitehorn announced.

The effort began when firefighters responded to a call about an elderly woman in need. Sergeant Felisa Leary learned of the situation and returned to the home with Captain Hollins, discovering the woman lacked essential items such as a refrigerator, television, bed, and clothing.

Sgt. Leary reached out to Corporal Childress from the CPSO D.A.R.E. Unit, who coordinated with local businesses to secure donations. Johnson’s Furniture generously donated a mattress, while Pastor Brian Hollins of Abounding Grace Church provided a refrigerator and television the same day. The mattress and bed frame were delivered on New Year’s Day, ensuring the senior had a safe and comfortable place to rest.

Sheriff Whitehorn praised the collaboration, noting that the support from the Shreveport Fire Department and community partners exemplifies CPSO’s dedication to serving beyond traditional law enforcement roles.

“This effort shows the power of community collaboration and our commitment to helping those in need,” he said.
