SPD Special Response Team completes intensive training to maintain high-risk response readiness

Members of the Shreveport Police Department’s Special Response Team recently completed several hours of advanced training designed to maintain their readiness for the most high-risk situations officers may encounter.

The training covered crisis negotiation, hostage rescue operations, and close-quarters combat, providing team members with rigorous, scenario-based practice. Despite challenging weather conditions, officers worked through demanding simulations to sharpen their tactical skills and decision-making abilities.

The Special Response Team is composed of SPD officers who volunteer for the additional duty of responding to critical incidents. To remain qualified, team members undergo quarterly firearms proficiency testing and physical fitness evaluations, ensuring they remain prepared to respond swiftly and effectively when emergencies arise.

Department officials expressed appreciation for the team’s professionalism and commitment, noting that their continued training underscores the department’s dedication to the safety of the Shreveport community.
