Bossier Parish leaders attend 2025 Military Tattoo honoring veterans

Police Jury President Glenn Benton and District 12 Juror Keith Sutton joined local and state officials at the 2025 Military Tattoo, a ceremony honoring Louisiana’s veterans and active service members. The event paid tribute to the Louisiana Veterans Affairs Department and celebrated the enduring traditions of military service.

Special video messages were shared by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, both extending gratitude to the men and women who have served in the armed forces.

Among those in attendance were Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington and Bossier Parish Clerk of Court Jill Sessions, reflecting strong community support for the state’s veterans.

A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of three heroic Air Force B-52 pilots who flew a special mission during the Gulf War, along with a highly decorated World War II veteran who earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze Star Medals for his extraordinary service.

In a moving moment, ten young men and women took the oath of enlistment, pledging to continue the legacy of service as the next generation of military personnel.

Originating in the 18th century, the term “tattoo” comes from the Dutch phrase “Do Den Tattoo,” meaning “turn off the taps,” a signal for soldiers to return to their barracks. The Military Tattoo stands as a proud tradition that honors the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of those who serve.

Benton and Sutton expressed appreciation to all veterans and active-duty members for their dedication to protecting the nation and preserving freedom.
