It’s status quo in Week 8 poll, except for Bossier back in the Top 10

JOURNAL SPORTS

Week 7 results didn’t provide for much movement in this week’s Shreveport-Bossier Journal Top 10 poll.

The top five teams were winners, and their positions didn’t change. Parkway (7-0) maintained the top spot for the fourth straight week and Evangel (6-0) is a close second. Unbeaten Loyola (7-0), Class AA power Calvary (6-1) and Northwood (6-1) are still tied for third.

Airline (4-3) edged past Captain Shreve (4-3) for sixth.  Although the Gators beat the Vikings 66-56 three weeks ago, since then Shreve has suffered lopsided losses to a pair of state powers, Evangel and Destrehan. The Vikings ended a three-game skid – the losses came by a combined 17 points to ECA, Shreve and Parkway – by pushing back a feisty Haughton squad in Week 7.

Huntington (3-4) held Parkway to its lowest point total of the season in a 30-19 defeat and kept its No. 8 ranking.  The Raiders will square off against Calvary this week in an interesting late-season non-district contest.

Bossier (3-4) and Booker T. Washington (4-3) rounded out the top 10 despite defeats. BTW hung in at No. 10 while Bossier regained a ranking for the second time.
