One of the nation’s premier dog sporting events, the Super Retriever Series Crown Championship, has returned to Caddo and Bossier Parishes for its fifth consecutive year.

The competition begins today and continues through Oct. 12, featuring the country’s most elite retriever trials and high-flying dock diving events, all of which are free and open to spectators.

The Retriever Trials begin today and continue through next Wednesday at Camp Mindenwhere top dogs and handlers will be tested in hunting-style scenarios. The action then moves to the Louisiana Boardwalk, where the SRS Super Dock will take place Oct. 10–12 behind Bass Pro Shops, featuring long jumps, high jumps, and speed runs.

“Shreveport-Bossier has proven to be an outstanding host for the Super Retriever Series,” said Shannon Nardi of SRS. “The combination of great facilities, supportive community partners, and the welcoming spirit of the region make it a destination our competitors look forward to each year. That’s why we’re proud to return for the fifth year in a row.”

Coinciding with the Dock Diving Championship, Pet Palooza will take place at the Louisiana Boardwalk on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This outdoor, pet-friendly celebration highlights local rescues, vendors, and pet lovers while adding a festive market atmosphere to Championship weekend.

Activities will include:

  • Pet adoptions with local rescues
  • Free rabies vaccinations
  • “Paw-some Pairs” costume contest (dress as your favorite dynamic duo)
  • Market vendors with treats, toys, and more
  • Free fun jumps for dogs behind Bass Pro Shops
  • Donation baskets supporting animal rescues

Pet Palooza also coincides with the Bossier City Makers Fair, an outdoor market with over 150 vendors, creating a full day of shopping, food, and family fun along the riverfront.
