Southwood product D’Qavion Lemons made a name for himself last season on the Centenary football team and is getting some national attention as a result.
Monday, the Gents’ junior defensive tackle was named to the D3football.com Preseason All-America Team as a third-team selection.
After making 46 tackles, including three sacks, and forcing two fumbles last fall, Lemons was named to the D3football.com 2024 All-Region Team and was a first-team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection. He helped Centenary go 4-6 overall and 4-4 in the SCAC in its first official season of football in the modern era.
The Gents, who began preseason practice last weekend, have been picked to finish fourth in the SCAC and notably picked up one first-place vote in the poll of league coaches.
Centenary kicks off the 2025 campaign Sept. 6 at Atkins Field against Westgate Christian, out of Portland, Ore.
The Gents begin conference play at home on Saturday, Oct. 11 with a visit from Texas Lutheran.
