Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Fountain Terrace in response to what was initially reported as a disorderly person on July 19 just after 4am. Upon arrival, officers determined
that the incident was a domestic disturbance.
Through further investigation, officers learned that the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Donald Ashley, was intoxicated and extremely agitated. Officers initially attempted to de-escalate the situation by offering Ashley transportation to his home or another safe location. However, his behavior became increasingly aggressive.
As officers continued their investigation, they discovered that Ashley had unlawfully entered the residence—an act that constituted a home invasion. When officers attempted to place him under arrest, Ashley violently resisted, physically attacking officers and attempting to remove their equipment. During the
struggle, he successfully removed pistol magazines and a police radio and then attempted to gain control of an officer’s firearm. Fortunately, officers were able to retain their weapons and safely subdue Ashley.
Ashley was taken into custody and later transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He has since been charged with the following:
- One count of Home Invasion
- One count of Battery of a Dating Partner
- One count of Resisting an Officer
- Two counts of Battery of a Police Officer
