Fatal crash at Elizabeth Ave. and Margaret Place

Shreveport Police Department Patrol units were dispatched to the intersection of Elizabeth Avenue and Margaret Place in reference to a major vehicle crash on July 21 at approximately 5:48pm.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a single-vehicle collision with the driver found unconscious inside the
vehicle. The Shreveport Fire Department responded promptly, and both the driver and a female passenger were transported to Ochsner LSU Health with injuries described as life-threatening.

The Shreveport Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene to conduct a full
investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate that the driver suffered a medical episode, causing the vehicle to leave the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck multiple road signs before colliding with a large tree. Evidence from the scene shows that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the passenger was properly restrained.

Tragically, the driver was later pronounced deceased at Ochsner LSU Health by hospital staff. The passenger remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

This tragic incident is a somber reminder of the importance of always wearing a seatbelt. Seatbelts save lives.
