Suspect arrested following overnight shooting on Grimmett Drive

Detavious Heads

Shreveport Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting that had just occurred in the 2100 block of Grimmett Drive on Saturday, July 19, at approximately 11:35pm. 

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was
treated on scene and transported to Ochsner LSU Health by the Shreveport Fire Department. His injuries
were determined to be non-life threatening.

The victim cooperated with investigators and identified the individual responsible for the shooting as
Detavious Heads (DOB: 12/29/1999). A Violent Crimes detective responded to the hospital, where the victim again positively identified Heads as the shooter.

Detectives and K-9 officers returned to the apartment complex to locate the suspect. Heads was located at his grandmother’s apartment and taken into custody without incident.

Following an interview with investigators, Detavious Heads was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the following charges: Attempted Second Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Outstanding City Marshal Warrant – Trespassing.
