
The Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT), in collaboration with multiple law enforcement partners, has arrested two individuals and seized multiple firearms and narcotics following a coordinated investigation and search warrant execution.
VCAT members, with the assistance of the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, SPD Warrant’s Unit, SPD Vice
Unit, and the Office of Juvenile Justice, conducted an investigation into Valentine Carter Jr. (DOB:
12/31/2002) for suspected firearms trafficking. Investigators located Carter Jr. at a residence located at 9519 Short Leaf Drive, Shreveport, and obtained a search warrant for the premises.
On the day of the operation, law enforcement executed the warrant and safely detained all occupants,
including Carter Jr. During a thorough search of the residence, officers recovered the following:
- Two (2) 7.62x39mm semi-automatic pistols
- One (1) .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol
- One (1) 9mm semi-automatic pistol
- 1,418 grams of marijuana
- 50 grams of THC-infused edibles
During the investigation, officers also identified Carter Jr.’s father, Valentine Carter Sr. (DOB: 02/22/1986), as being actively involved in the distribution of marijuana. Carter Jr. was arrested on Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana; Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance; and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Carter Sr. was arrested on Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Both suspects were transported to the Shreveport City Jail, and all seized evidence was processed and
submitted to the SPD Property Room for court proceedings.
