SFD quickly contained early morning house fire on E. Egan Street

In the early hours of Thursday morning, July 10, Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) crews responded swiftly to a reported house fire in the 100 block of E. Egan Street, thanks to a prompt call placed by a concerned neighbor to the Caddo 911 Center.

At approximately 3:08am, the neighbor reported a possible structure fire in the area. Engine 5 (E-5), the first unit to arrive on scene, did so in under three minutes and discovered heavy smoke billowing from the roof of a single-story residential structure. Firefighters immediately initiated a rapid offensive attack to suppress the flames.

A total of eight (8) SFD fire units and 24 firefighters and support personnel were dispatched to the scene. Through coordinated teamwork, strategic operations, and swift decision-making, the fire was brought under control within minutes of arrival. Their rapid response prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent properties and minimized structural damage.

The residence appeared to be vacant at the time of the incident. No injuries to either citizens or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation by the Shreveport Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Office.

The Shreveport Fire Department continues to urge all residents to report suspicious activity or unusual behavior to the proper authorities. Community awareness and engagement are critical to ensuring public safety.
