The Shreveport Police Department has arrested a man wanted in connection with a violent domestic incident that occurred on June 15.
The suspect, Traveon Zachery, is accused of attacking a pregnant woman during a child exchange. During
the altercation, Zachery allegedly choked the victim, who is a household member. Detectives with the
Shreveport Police Department’s Crimes and Domestic Violence Unit investigated the case and obtained
warrants for one count of Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation and one count of Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment.
On July 8, members of the SPD Warrants Unit located Zachery at 6171 West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
Officers attempted to execute the warrant, resulting in a brief standoff. Zachery eventually emerged from a rear bedroom holding a baby in his arms in what officers described as an apparent attempt to use the child as a shield. Officers acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the child and took Zachery into custody without further incident.
Zachery was arrested on the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with Resisting Arrest.
