Shreveport Police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 8200 block of St. Vincent Avenue on May 8 just after 5pm. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound
to the leg.

The man initially claimed that he had accidentally shot himself. However, as the investigation progressed,
detectives determined that the incident occurred during a domestic dispute. According to evidence and
witness statements, the male and a female, later identified as Zhamya Howard, were engaged in an argument inside a vehicle. The male had a firearm positioned under his leg when Howard attempted to retrieve the weapon. During the struggle, the gun discharged and struck the male in the leg.

Following the investigation, officers arrested Zhamya Howard for one count of Domestic Abuse Battery.
